GIVING MONEY- NO STRINGS ATTACHED …….
During this season of giving, we advise anyone who will give to a worthy cause not to only give money, but also to impart some (no matter how small) of their business experience and/or knowledge to the charity of their choice. Our experience has shown that most non profits (especially the very local ones) have great hearts for their mission but not always the most business experience or future-thinking strategy that is central to running a business.
So with the money we give, we should also give a small portion of our collective work experience to make the charities a little more noticed or a little more efficient. That way, our donation does more for those that need it most. Here are just some simple ways to aid your favorite charity:
Direct your donations to a special event or marketing plan
Review and Edit a mailing
Offer a discount on your services to the charity
Obtain a bulk price on a service and share that with the charity (such as: printing)
Add a link to your website to the non profit you believe in &/or donate to
Add a 1 line mention on a direct mail piece you are sending out about the charity
Place a donation jar(s) in your store for the charity
Organize volunteer days for your staff to help the charity (this also gives you good press moments for your company).
Donate your money but, more importantly, your expertise to help these causes survive in an increasingly, smaller donor dollar allocation per charity environment.
