(My Free PR ) John McCain, sources say, would rather be characterized as Rambo instead of Rocky Balboa in this year's edition of Politicards.

Put aside the political posturing; there's a new controversy rising up from the campaign trail: Is Senator John McCain "Rambo" or is he "Rocky?"

Well, it seems, that question has already been answered by the current edition of the 2008 Politicards, a 54-card poker deck of humorous illustrations, each depicting a leading politician or pundit as a popular character from an appropriate Hollywood film. In it, Senator John McCain, ranked as a Jack of Hearts, is roasted as a geriatric Rocky Balboa jogging his way up the Capitol steps. The line at the bottom of the card reads, "My point is I'm pursuing something and nobody looks too happy about it." Ouch.

The problem, according to sources close to the campaign, is this: The Arizona Senator would much rather be Rambo, instead. When it comes to the most famous of candidate "veterans", there seems to be some concern about not showing McCain as Rambo. (With the possible movie quote, "Don't push it or I'll give you a war you won't believe.")

The McCain camp isn't about to give up. And in a world where life seems to imitate art, Politicards creator Peter Green says he'll make him a deal: If he comes out well after the primaries, John McCain will get his wish. Peter has been creating the cards since the 1972 Nixon/McGovern election and claims he's never had so much to work from as this year's cast and crew.

Says John Olsen, interviewed on the floor of the Iowa Caucus and a prominent political memorabilia seller, "I've been selling these cards since '96 and have never seen the interest generated like this deck has. It doesn't surprise me that there is so much concern about how each politician is depicted."

Olsen acknowledges that just about every politician since Nixon has had to endure their less-than-flattering card depiction. So why the special treatment for McCain?

"Why not?" says Green.

Indeed, the senator has been a long-standing fan of Politicards for three elections. So with a little luck and provided he hasn't folded around the time of the Republican National Convention, this Rocky might just become a Rambo.

Politicards sells a quarter-million decks each political season. This year's sales, according to Green, are ahead of schedule and the deck is in its fifth printing. To learn more go to: http://www.politicards.com/press_release.html
