The belief that “having a sense of community within your neighborhood is a healthy way of life” is the backbone for Vintage Township’s non-profit organization, Township Institute. The Institute was started by the first generation residents of Vintage Township, a traditional new home neighborhood development in Lubbock, TX, and reflects the promise of the town to make the lives of its residents simpler, more enjoyable, healthier and more fun.
The Vintage Institute’s purpose is to promote a vital cultural life in Vintage Township, and to encourage and support the development of programs which strengthens the community and fosters good citizenship. Located on 114th Street and Quaker Avenue, Vintage Township’s Institute also promotes awareness, education and celebration of the good history of Lubbuck, Texas and the traditions that were developed there centuries ago.
The organization works year-round to plan and sponsor events that encourage involvement and communication among residents. Some of the events sponsored by the Vintage Institute are particular to groups within the community, such as The Craft Fair and local ribbon cuttings, other events are non-specific events including the Beach Party Blast and Sunday Picnics in the Park.
The Vintage Institute has been very successful with these events. Community members have been getting involved and volunteering their time, and visitors from across the region are coming to participate, as well.
