As you enter the door at the Wolfchase location of Memphis Obstetrics and Gynecological Association, you’ll learn about much more than the progress of your baby or the results of your diagnostic exams. According to the American Cancer Society, an estimated 182,460 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to occur among women in the United States during 2008.  An estimated 40,480 women will die from breast cancer.  It is estimated that 1,990 men will be diagnosed and 450 men will die of breast cancer during 2008.  The staff of MOGA Wolfchase have taken these statistics very seriously. “This is a cause very close to my heart,” says Office Manager Melissa Conklin.  “My grandmother lost her battle after a courageous journey this past April.” To create awareness of and raise money for the cause, the staff members all purchased matching pink “HOPE” breast cancer shirts, which they wore every Friday during the months of September and October.  Additionally, each employee donated money on these days, and a number of patients took notice and donated as well. According to Conklin: “We also hung pink ribbons on our waiting room doors in honor or memory of those who had been touched by breast cancer.  As a result of our efforts, we raised $200.00 that will be donated toward the fight.”

Memphis Obstetrics and Gynecological Association maintains four offices in the Memphis area.  Staffed by nineteen physicians and five nurse practitioners, the practice treats a full range of women’s health issues.  For more information about the efforts of Team Pink, contact the Wolfchase office of MOGA at (901) 373-9221, or visit them on the web at www.mogamd.com.
