PR professionals Ave Montague and Cynthia Traina will give individuals, non-profits and small businesses an all-day crash course on do-it-yourself publicity on October 3, 2008 at the Museum of the African Diaspora.

    The seminar and lunch, priced at $495 or $395 for non-profits, will provide the basics of getting thousands of dollars of free publicity plus an introduction to Web 2.0 PR strategies. Participants will learn how to create powerful messaging, write a press release that gets noticed, how to use social networking sites as a promotional tool, learn which reporters to contact, how to access free wire services, and will meet reporters who will be on hand to answer questions about how to get their attention. They will also learn how to use powerful Web 2.0 tools to get interviews and build a fan base.

 

    Ave Montague is president of Ave Montague and Associates and founder /director of the San Francisco Black Film Festival. Her clients include 1300 on Fillmore, The Omega Boys Club, San Francisco Arts Commission, Urban Solutions, Comcast, TV One and The Museum of the African Diaspora. Cynthia Traina, of Traina PR, comes from a background in food PR and publishing, and is author of The Do-It-Yourself-Public Relations Guide for Restaurateurs. A former account director for Hill & Knowlton, she has taught PR seminars for the California Restaurant Association and for UC California Extension, and has worked with a variety of clients including Intel Corporation, New Resource Bank, The California Autism Foundation, 1300 on Fillmore, Alioto’s Restaurant, and Ten Speed and Whereabouts Press.

 

    The Seminar takes place on October 3, 2008 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, at the Museum of the African Diaspora, Education Center, 685 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA.
